31 Day Challenge- A break to read

When life is crazy and all is so busy, I like to take a little time to enjoy a good book. After all, in order to enjoy the journey, we must remember to implement those things that we enjoy doing. Do you recall my list of summer reads? If not, you can find HERE. The truth is, I'm craving a good movie. For now, I will settle for the little snitches I get here and there to break through a few books. My last list included one of my favorite of all time reads, Her Mother's Hope, well, it had a sequel. I ripped through that book in no time:

I have to admit that I didn't like it as well as the first one, but it was still a good read and finished the story, which was sweet and based on the lives of real ancestors of the author.

A friend loaned me the next book, it's a Jane Austen book, which is always delightful:

This book was actually started by Jane Austen, then she died before completion, so another author finished it. So far I'm enjoying it in bites. I have to be in the right frame of thinking to get caught up in the language. Does that happen to you?
And Lastly,
For the month of Oct. I'm getting ready to read:

My husband mentioned a desire to read this book a couple of years ago. Knowing he doesn't have time to read, I've found the best gifts for him are books on CD he can listen to during his travels. I gave it to him for Christmas. It was voted in for this month's read in our book group. If you've never read any works by C.S. Lewis, you've got to try at least once. He had an amazing insight to truth.
And that wraps it up for my shares this month.
What have you been reading?
I'm always up for a good suggestion!
Enjoy,

  1. We just finished the Screwtape Letters a few weeks ago, Tale of Two Cities, and The Scarlet Letter, and some shorter ones. Now we are reading Sense and Sensibility. It's my daughter's third Jane Austen book. She loves it.

  2. Screwtape Letters was a good read! He has some great books. Have you read anything by Frank Peretti? He is another favorite of mine.

  3. I'm a big Jane Austen fan but didn't know about that book! I'll have to check it out, and I've been wanting to read something by CS Lewis so I'll check that out, too. Great reminder to take time to read!
