31 Day Challenge- Fence to Frame

This was a project that lived in my head long before it ever took physical form. Remember all that fencing I told you about? The pile in our yard, calling my name? First I used it to create a planked wall in the bathroom. Then I couldn't get the idea of this frame out of my head until it started to take formation. So I took my fence pieces to my handy neighbor and asked him to teach me how to make a frame out of them. The next thing I knew, after telling him my design, it was complete the next day.

I had the print made at Costco and mounted it onto a 16x20 canvas with Mod Podge, and rolled over the top with a sponge roller to protect it and create a canvas look.
It turned out exactly the way I wanted it to. But it wasn't quite complete, because the real inspiration was yet to take shape. While on our summer vacation this year, the children and I were enjoying some tunes in the car when a song came on the radio and I said, "That's it!" The children, of course, had no idea what I was talking about, so I told them my idea. They are so supportive of their crazy mom. Hahaha! (I have great kids ;}) So when I got to this point,  I needed to stencil the message. Using my Cricut I decided on the opposites attract cartridge and made a stencil out of poster board style cardboard, the same way I made my garage door message. (You can read about that here).

Now my frame is complete and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.
It's just exactly how I imagined. Love it when a project goes your way!

  3. How nice to have something in your head turn into something in the world. I like that you added the lyrics too (I might have that song stuck in my head now, and that's alright with me!)
